December/January 2019/2020

This time of year we find ourselves wrapped up warm on the sofa, heating on full and scrapping ice off our cars. But not all is bad, in fact this time of year is my favourite! There’s something about getting cosy with candles, darker nights and not to mention Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

I can’t wait to be surrounded by loved ones and reflect on the last year, remembering defining moments that stood out the most and those who helped me along the way. For me 2019 has been such an amazing year and I’m excited for what else is to come in 2020.

This issue is perfect for weddings no matter the weather and gives couples plenty of festive inspiration, we have a Winter Wonderland feature on page 21 showcasing some amazing venues. We also have delicious cake trends for next year with plenty of new ideas on page 59.

If you’re concerned about make-up and how the cold weather will affect it, make sure to check out our Beauty Q&A on page 84 and find advice from our lovely local experts.

One of my favourite parts of writing this magazine are the real weddings and we have some classic love stories for you to read which are so sweet and truly romantic.

I hope you enjoy this issue as much as I loved putting it together! That’s all from me, so all that’s left to do is relax, grab a hot chocolate, blanket and discover everything and anything wedding!

Enjoy!

Cressbrook Hall

Situated in 23 acres of land, Cressbrook Hall is a grand and magnificent Tudor-style mansion, which was built in 1835 during the reign of William IV. The indoor areas are split into three main parts that are light, airy and can suit most decorations and colour schemes. All of the spaces are in keeping with the era of the house, however, they do have a modern twist.

The gardens and grounds are a photographer’s dream boasting stunning views – Cressbrook Hall is south-facing and overlooks the Wye Valley and Water-Cum-Jolly Dale.

Ceremonies take place in The Floral Archway which is outside in the gardens and can hold a maximum of 150 guests. Around 96 guests can view the ceremony from both The Granary which is on a balcony and The Conservatory.

The Drawing Room, located in the main Hall has beautiful bay windows with stunning views, which can hold up to 40 guests.

There are multiple choices available for the reception depending on what couples are looking for on the wedding day. The Orangery is the main dining room, which is bright with a high glass ceiling and wooden beams with maximum formal seating for 56 guests. The Garden Room is the extended dining room that holds up to 40 loved ones.

As well as being a ceremony area, The Granary is a quiet room with comfortable seating for guests to relax while the bar situated in The Conservatory is where guests can enjoy drinks and canapés.
