December/January 2019/2020

This time of year we find ourselves wrapped up warm on the sofa, heating on full and scrapping ice off our cars. But not all is bad, in fact this time of year is my favourite! There’s something about getting cosy with candles, darker nights and not to mention Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

I can’t wait to be surrounded by loved ones and reflect on the last year, remembering defining moments that stood out the most and those who helped me along the way. For me 2019 has been such an amazing year and I’m excited for what else is to come in 2020.

This issue is perfect for weddings no matter the weather and gives couples plenty of festive inspiration, we have a Winter Wonderland feature on page 21 showcasing some amazing venues. We also have delicious cake trends for next year with plenty of new ideas on page 59.

If you’re concerned about make-up and how the cold weather will affect it, make sure to check out our Beauty Q&A on page 84 and find advice from our lovely local experts.

One of my favourite parts of writing this magazine are the real weddings and we have some classic love stories for you to read which are so sweet and truly romantic.

I hope you enjoy this issue as much as I loved putting it together! That’s all from me, so all that’s left to do is relax, grab a hot chocolate, blanket and discover everything and anything wedding!

Enjoy!

The Woodlands

Sitting within several acres of grounds, The Woodlands was never going to be short of a gorgeous view, no matter what the season: lawns, countryside and natural woodland – offers a peaceful, exclusive setting for the big day.

The Woodlands comprises of three spaces, the wedding ceremony, breakfast area and reception room. This venue is openplan with large sliding doors and has been recently decorated with neutral tones and subtle shades of on-trend colours such as earthy pinks and gold hints to complement different themes.

Walking down to the venue, couples will instantly get a feel of the rustic luxe-vibe. Sitting among spacious lawns and guest accommodation cabins, it’s clear why The Woodlands is so popular among those looking for a laid-back, rural feel.

The combination of floor-to-ceiling glass doors and wooden exterior complement the ambience, while keeping a modern edge.

Ceremonial space inside the venue guarantees warmth and comfort without having to give up the outdoor vibe. With the light, expansive feel of the venue and large sliding doors, there’s no escaping the beauty of the surroundings as couples exchange vows – a special moment shared with up to 60 guests.

The evening reception can take place across the entirety of the venue, another benefit of the open-plan, yet discreetly divided design. The bar’s situated in the middle of the three spaces meaning 150 guests can pick up a drink while still feeling among the celebrations.

Taking advantage of its surrounding, The Woodlands offers a luxury newlywed suite, with a difference. Nestled within the woods is an elevated treehouse complete with king-size bed, free-standing bath, champagne fridge and balcony views.

However, the surprises doesn’t end there, also hidden beneath the trees is an outdoor ceremony area called The Hideaway. With a licensed structure, benched seating and an aisle scattered with leaves, couple won’t get closer to nature on their special day. If the weather isn’t suited to an outdoor ceremony, The Hideaway will still allow for perfect picture opportunities.

Lovebirds are welcome to taste the extensive menu choices to help them select the food for their day and the luxury treehouse suite is included in the package for the night of the wedding.

New for winter 2020 will be the addition of a giant tipi nestled under the trees where couples and guests can escape for a cosy drinks reception around the firepit.
