October/November 2019

They say wedding season is typically over the summer months, however, I think autumn and winter nuptials are actually coming in to their own. I’m super-excited to see the pastel colour palettes change to warm, earthy hues, bridal bouquets go from picture-perfect posies to over-sized daring designs; even the catering changes, gone are fresh and light courses and we read more about warming and hearty roasts, and rich-flavoured big-day bakes think cinnamon and rum! This issue we have a host of inspiration whatever month you tie the knot. Our fashion spreads provide the perfect balance, boho beauties versus glamorous must-haves, as does our honeymoon pages showcasing travel options for stay-at-home-lovers and for jet-setters.

We think our real weddings offer inspiration aplenty of how to plan the big day your way, and the styled shoot gives you so many ideas to think about – best grab your pen and pad! We hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as our lovely new editorial team member, Olivia Gibson, has had compiling it together for you.

Pull up a chair, pour a brew and happy reading!

Stancliffe Hall

Stancliffe Hall is a Grade II listed building simply brimming with history, with some parts of the hall dating back to 15th century! The private driveway down to the house is nothing short of breathtaking and you are met by one of the many bronze sculptures which litter the grounds.

The venue nestles in 50 acres of stunning parklands in the heart of the Peak District with views of the Derbyshire countryside, allowing you to rest assured of total privacy.

The suites or bedrooms have been designed with rest, relaxation and romance in mind, each beautiful and unique with its own charm, eclectic decorations sourced from around the world add to the character.

The beautiful Whitworth Room played host to many great events throughout the life of the Hall, perfect for your ceremony; while the charming and historic 1816 Room offers a more intimate setting. This is a separate building from the main house and is connected by a rich red carpet. This room is also perfect for the winter months if you’re looking for a room that can seat around 50 guests comfortably but has a more snug feeling.

There’s a number of options for your wedding breakfast. If you’re looking for a more intimate wedding day why not utilise the light and airy Stone Court which has both a billiards room and a smaller snug lounge? For a larger wedding the Whitworth Room is great, it can accommodate a maximum of 100 guests and includes a bar with a cosy seating area.

Stancliffe Hall has spa facilities that include a swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room – ideal for pre-wed R&R. There’s also a Romany caravan on the grounds perfect for creating wedding photos with a difference.

The bride and groom will be invited for a free tasting session with on-site caterers, Coghlans to create the perfect wedding breakfast around nine months before the special day. If the wedding couple would like to showcase Stancliffe to their closest friends and family before their big day, spa facilities can be opened for a private afternoon gathering.
