They say wedding season is typically over the summer months, however, I think autumn and winter nuptials are actually coming in to their own. I’m super-excited to see the pastel colour palettes change to warm, earthy hues, bridal bouquets go from picture-perfect posies to over-sized daring designs; even the catering changes, gone are fresh and light courses and we read more about warming and hearty roasts, and rich-flavoured big-day bakes think cinnamon and rum! This issue we have a host of inspiration whatever month you tie the knot. Our fashion spreads provide the perfect balance, boho beauties versus glamorous must-haves, as does our honeymoon pages showcasing travel options for stay-at-home-lovers and for jet-setters.
We think our real weddings offer inspiration aplenty of how to plan the big day your way, and the styled shoot gives you so many ideas to think about – best grab your pen and pad! Ashton Lodge Country House
Ashton Lodge is a stunning Edwardian house with many of the period features remaining, but complemented with touches of modern styling.
Set in three acres of beautiful gardens overlooking the countryside, it’s ideal for drink receptions following the ceremony and to enjoy throughout the day. The gardens have numerous locations for exquisite wedding photographs whatever the season, whether it be on the swing from a huge cedar nestled in the woodland, or walking through the lawns.
Ashton Lodge is illuminated with soft lighting which accentuates its beauty and is spoilt with natural daylight that floods in through the windows. The main house contains the beautiful ceremony room and bar, along with a sumptuous honeymoon suite and 13 stylish bedrooms.
Ceremonies take place in the newly refurbished Garden Room, which overlooks gardens and can seat up to 120 guests. New for 2020 are outside ceremonies, which will take place in the garden. There is a dressing room adjoining the Garden Room for total convenience.
Wedding receptions are within the perfectly positioned marquee overlooking the gardens, directly connected to the main house and can seat 150 guests for a wedding breakfast, and 200 for an evening reception. Locally renowned caterer, The Chopping Block provide all the catering at Ashton Lodge. This venue is licensed to hold ceremonies and there’s plenty of car parking for the wedding, as well as rooms for overnight guests.
As a nice bonus all wedding couples receive a complimentary food and drink tasting!
