August/September 2022

Hello lovely readers and welcome back to another issue of Your East Midlands Wedding.

We’ve worked hard this issue to gather some of the most talented suppliers to offer tips and tricks to create memorable weddings. Expect to find plenty of big-day inspiration on each page, from stunning venue styling ideas to different entertainment options and showstopping dresses.

Make sure to flick to our real wedding features and read the heartwarming love stories from local couples. Learn what made their day stand out and all the lovely details plus memorable moments. I can’t believe we’re already more than halfway through the year; where has the time gone? Summer weddings are always stunning and allow couples to get creative to bring the outdoor areas to life with beautiful ceremony and reception spaces, snug areas, garden games and al fresco dining options.

We all know how unpredictable the weather can be in the UK. So if you’re opting for an al fresco event, make sure you have a wet-weather backup option such as a tipi, marquee or an indoor space available – you can never be too prepared!

We’re expecting to see many Bridgerton-inspired weddings this summer after the popular show released season two and the nation fell in love with Kate and Anthony. Expect to see plenty of lace, ruffles, gloves, capes and delicate blues – it’s going to be oh-so glamorous. Neutrals and earthy tones are also trending at the moment, with the main focus on nature with foliage, driftwood and different textures being used.

This year, couples are focusing on sustainable weddings and are thinking outside of the box to reduce their impact on the environment, which can be done in multiple ways. Why not opt for repurposed jewellery or conflict-free pieces with sustainable diamonds? Or use seed paper or recycled paper for stationery and reuse floral arrangements using seasonal blooms throughout the day.

That’s all from me; now sit back, relax and celebrate anything and everything wedding.

Happy planning!

How to wear pink when attending weddings

How to wear pink when attending weddings

With Breast Cancer Awareness month approaching, Cliff Bashforth, managing director of Colour Me Beautiful, shares his top tips on how to wear pink!

"The key to wearing pink is to ensure that it doesn't wear you, says Cliff, "Cooler skin tones look amazing in cerise or hot pinks, indeed most shades from dusty rose to bright fuchsia, whilst warmer skin tones will always look their best in coral or salmon pinks. Dark hair and bright eyes - opt for the boldest, brightest hues you can find. Hot pink (cool), mango (warm). If your eyes are dark choose a deeper shade such as fuchsia (cool) or salmon pink (warm).

Lush Dragon's Egg bath bomb is going gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness month

Lush's cult favourite Dragon's Egg bath bomb is going gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness month launching online from 23rd September and in all Lush UK&I stores from 24th September 2022. This September, it's with heavy hearts that Lush UK&I is going gold for childhood cancer awareness month. This year the Constantine family (the co-founders of Lush) lost seven-year-old Dexter Constantine-Tatchell, their Master of Dragons. He fought fiercely against Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer that lacks awareness as well as a lack of funding for research and treatment.
