Emma and Aidan's love story first started through Facebook as they were part of the same group. Emma says, "I had a few wines with my mum one Friday night who had been nagging me about my taste in men. I then saw Aidan's face on the group chat and clicked on it. I looked to see if he was local and single, and as he was and I added him. A week later we had our first date and what can I say, the rest is history!"
From there the couple bonded over their taste in music and life goals, which made them realise they had a lot in common.
On a trip to Switzerland with close friends for Emma's birthday, the group played the ring of fire card game in the log cabin after having a lovely day in the snow. Emma says, "Aidan pulled the Jack card, so he had to set a rule that the other players had to do; his rule was that 'Emma has to say yes to whatever I ask her'. Then he was on one knee, holding the most beautiful black diamond ring. I was completely shocked and said 'no' but half a second later I burst out crying and said 'yes' over and over again!"
Here Emma tells us details about their special day...
We both love old buildings and Prestwold has so much character and brilliant features, not to mention stunning grounds, amazing staff and incredible food. The rooms are set out perfectly so people can sit, dance, drink and be by the music or enjoy some quiet time away from it.
For our favours, we choose to have personalised shot glasses with the words 'Mr & Mrs Howard' and the date of the wedding.
It was important that the flowers were bright and our florist Berryfields channelled this vision perfectly!
For other decoration we had lanterns with flowers on throughout, candelabras on each table with the photographs of each maiden.
We opted for a four-tier navy and gold steampunk cake. It was adorned with an icing model of Aidan's grandad's pocket watch and my grandma's ring.
The place names each had an individual, quirky key tied with twine to Kraft.
We used the maiden names of the women in our family tree as table names, which we wrote on a huge, ornate mirror. We made it into a 'Find Your Maiden' game.
I wore a gown from Brides of Ashby, from its Ladybird Collection. I gasped when I saw it in the shop window, it fit perfectly and flattered my figure so well – I was in love. A few tiny alterations later and I had my dream gown.
For transport, we had a Beaufort adorned with pink and navy ribbons.
The groom wore a navy suit with a brown bow tie and waistcoat while the groomsmen wore grey and had full ties.
The bridesmaids wore lace-topped navy maxi dresses. As fate would have it, the straps and top of the dress matched mine perfectly! All of my bridesmaids were amazing throughout, my maid-of-honour Jess was my rock and has given me so much confidence back that I had lost since my fibromyalgia diagnosis.
We had a live rock band called the Rooters. I discovered them at a beer festival years ago and have followed them ever since. Mum wasn't too keen and wanted us to have a swing band! But neither of us like swing so we stuck to our guns and everyone was dancing all night
Aidan said felt very chilled but excited, I think the nerves only hit when we were at the church! However, as soon as I saw him the nerves disappeared.
I was a lot calmer than I thought I would be. I was worried that I would be anxious about being the centre of attention. However, on the day I just felt serene and so happy that this was the day that I finally got to marry my soulmate.
The whole day was completely full of happiness, we enjoyed it together with our friends and family. We did our own thing but spent lots of the day together too and everyone had a brilliant time and danced into the night.
My dad's face when he saw me ready will forever make me smile and cry happy tears. I've never seen a man look so proud.
Aidan bought me a Stephen Gately doll as a joke present for my birthday in February. Little did he know that this would be my best friend Jessica's date. We bought him a suit to match the groom's and he was with us all day.
From the second we met, our photographer Hayley made me feel at ease – I felt like we had been friends for years. I was able to be completely myself around her, which is why she managed to get such amazing shots because everyone felt relaxed.
The music went wrong at the church, so I was waiting with my bridesmaids and dad in the entrance to the church. Some brides may have felt stressed, but we just sang Baby Shark together and had such a giggle. The guests could hear us and it made everyone smile.
My grandma did a reading for us, which filled my heart with pride and joy, and my dad's speech was incredible. From start to finish, there were laughs, tears and sincerity.
All of the staff at Prestwold were incredible. From our first viewing to going to bed on the night, nothing was too much trouble. Everything ran like a dream and the standard was impeccable.
