Photography masterclass by Northampton's Aaron Storry

Photography masterclass by Northampton's Aaron Storry: Image 1 Photography Now has partnered with photographer Aaron Storry to launch its latest video masterclass series with advice to brides and grooms on how to get the best from their wedding photographer.
Named the Best Wedding Photographer 2019, at the British Photography Awards, Aaron was recognised by the judges for his 'documentary' style wedding shots. Here's some of Aaron's top tips:

  • Get to know your photographer. Meet with them and find out what advice they have in helping you to achieve an amazing collection of photos.
  • Brief your photographer. Take time to think about the photos you want and brief them about the day and the images you'd like.
  • Let the creativity flow. Most pros expect to take the traditional shots, but allow them to have some free-reign - you may be pleasantly surprised with the results.
  • Introductions are key. Make sure the main people involved in your big day are introduced to the photographer. It makes it easier for them to find the key people on the day or ask for help in doing so.
  • Assign a helper. You'll be busy on the day, so give one of your wedding party the task of liaising with the photographer should they have any requests.
  • Prints or USB stick? Don't opt for digital only. Consider having a traditional album with prints or some prints to frame.
  • Don't worry about the weather. Bad weather can create great photo opportunities.
